ABOUT A GREY AREA CO.
Our organization works with individuals, companies, and students to overcome their lack of exposure to learning through social and emotional channels. Acknowledging the scarcity of resources and opportunities for educators and learners alike, we offer a comprehensive approach comprising of workshops, school events, mentorship programs, and student development initiatives in marketing, film, content creation, events, social-emotional learning, and sports.
STEPPS
Influenced by Jonah Berger's STEPPS acronym, we are using social currency, triggers, emotions, public information, practical value, and stories to prioritize these four things.
1. Interactive sessions covering filmmaking, event planning, media, marketing, social-emotional learning, and personal development.
2. Mentorship Programs: Guidance and skill development from experienced professionals, fostering academic performance and personal growth.
3. School Events: Showcasing student achievements, promoting leadership, autonomy, responsibility and community engagement.
4. Student Development: Platforms for skill development through content creation and mentor-guided visits that are cross-curriculum based with existing middle and high school clubs.
Live LARGE. Think BIG.
We were privileged enough to take two of our eleventh grade students to Dallas, Texas, to spend time and learn from marketing and production professionals at Southern Methodist University. SMU provided these two young men the opportunity to learn about the early stages of NIL (name, image, and likeness) with the Pony Express and the death penalty experience. They were also able to learn about the transition from a smaller conference into a much larger conference and what that meant for the marketing, ticketing and production offices at the university. The young men also spent time at the front office of the 2024 Western Conference Finals Champions, Dallas Mavericks where they were able to learn from so many different people in the building, experience and participate in game day operations, film some cool content from the floor and watch their first NBA game
Grey Area Film Festival
The first annual Grey Area Film Festival featured seven student-made original short films, each crafted with care and creativity. Our mission is to inspire and highlight the next generation of filmmakers. Attendees have the opportunity to engage with the filmmakers on the red carpet, with a Q&A taking place after each film. Movie goers are able to gain insight into the creative processes and the stories behind each students' film. This event is open to the public, showcasing the creativity and capabilities of students.
LIGHT UP
Former college teammates Justin Gilmore of The Grey Area Company and Buffalo Bills linebacker Preston Brown teamed up once again to provide a night to remember for a high school. Niagara-Wheatfield hosted its first home night game in school history, and the surprises were never-ending, from practices, games, apparel, and an entire "Red Out" curated experience.
Celebrity Bartending
The Grey Area Company came together with multiple professional athletes from the NFL and WNBA to raise money for multiple special needs organizations. Damian Copeland, Kai De La Cruz, Marcus Smith II, Hakeem Smith, Senorise Perry, Asia Taylor, and Preston Brown were the athletes in attendance.
Grey Area Football Camp
Our combined objective is to assist student-athletes in advancing their skill sets by simulating a college environment for them. In addition to enhancing their athletic prowess and game knowledge, we will use athletics to teach young people valuable life lessons that will benefit them in both sports and society at large.
